I get asked a lot about how I got into soap making.... It all started back in middle school, my mother took a soap making class it looked fun. I started with the basic melt and pour in single loaf molds. The internet was a great learning tool and helped me expand my knowledge. Back then it was all pictures with directions, nothing like the amazing Youtube videos that there are today. (Side note: I am still a bit old school when it comes to technology, so my wife is currently laughing that I am writing out a blog post on paper first.) A side note to Mike's side note, I Mike's beautiful and talented wife Melissa am currently typing this for him...not laughing. Anyway back to his post... I did the traditional progression of layers to the imbeds.
That went on for years, making soap for family and friends. My dream of being a soap maker grew, but for the time being, having a hobby that was calming was good enough. Shortly after my son was born we could tell that he was skin sensitive to store bought products so I started expanding products that I made, lotions, shampoo, etc... At about the same time I started working with extremely complicated molds.
